Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene

October 21, 2020

Valley Mission family,

We come to you with a deep care and concern for our church and our congregation. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, we have stood firm that we need to respect the virus and how it works. Our church has been blessed until very recently with very little impact, but as the rise in cases are happening we need to be aware and respond accordingly. According to the Indiana Coronavirus dashboard, Lawrence County is seeing a 7 day positivity rate of 21.7%. With such a large positivity rate, it stands to reason that our church would not remain untouched.

We have been informed of a positive result of an individual this past Sunday. Please note, that the individual has already contacted any individuals in contact within 6 feet for longer than 15 minutes. We would ask that we remain aware of facts and not speculate on details, but instead be in prayer for the individual.

With the unanimous support of your church board we are moving to online only for a minimum of two weeks. We are canceling mid-week activities as well as the Trunk or Treat.  We will reevaluate after November 1st and will most likely rely heavily on the information posted by the Indiana dashboard.

We would encourage each of you to remember that we find our hope and strength in Jesus Christ and that while we should be aware and respectful of the diseases of this world, we should not be held hostage to fear. Each of us is responsible for making decisions that are best for ourselves and our families and each decision will be unique to the individual. As this season of life continues, please be respectful of others and remain at home if you feel even the mildest of symptoms.

We are aware that there will be opinions and beliefs on all sides and we respect every single person’s voice. Please understand that it is simply impossible to please everyone and we will lean heavily on prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we walk through this season as we are called to do as your pastors.

We dearly love each of you and lift you up in prayer daily.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Melony and Pastor John
