This Sunday will already be the third Sunday of Advent. Traditionally this Sunday focuses on JOY! I recently read an article that had a quote from Rick Warren’s wife, Kay. She wrote this about JOY.
“Joy: the settled assurance that God is in control
of every detail of my life, the quiet confidence
that ultimately everything will be all right,
and the determined choice to praise
God in all things”
So let me ask you. Are you settled and assured that God is in control of your life? Can you honestly say you are confident that regardless of what you have been through, or what you are going through, that it will be all right? Have you purposed praise to God even when life is hard?
This Sunday, we will answer those questions and unwrap the three biggest reasons we forfeit our Joy. We will also see how three main characters in the Christmas story chose Joy, over circumstances.
Sunday is Facebook Live and Drive In at 10am. The Valley Mission YouTube channel will carry the message later in the day as well as the valleymissionnazarene.org website. You can easily invite friends to watch live by hosting a ‘watch party’ on Facebook or by inviting them to tune into one of the other viewing options. For those without the required technology, we are also thinking of you. If you would like a DVD recording of services, and currently do not get those, please contact us at 812-797-9819 or 812-797-9816 for a copy to be sent to your home!
This Wednesday at 6:30 we will be holding our December board meeting. Please be in prayer as we discuss some possibilities for the new year. We are reviewing needed building improvements as well as reviewing the best possible scenarios in order to get us in a better position to pay off our debt more efficiently.
We will also be discussing various options of in person worship. Our intent is to be able to offer as many options to participate in worship as we can. We will be discussing best practices to reopen our building while simultaneously offering worship through Facebook, Drive-In, YouTube, Website, and DVD formats. We will never be able to satisfy every desire. Our intent is to offer as many ways possible to worship the Lord together as safely as we can.
Your faithful giving has been a welcome relief in very uncertain months. We are confident in the faithfulness of God as His people place Him first in all things. As with our worship service options, we offer many giving options.
We continue to pray for you and ask that you pray for each other. Remember, true JOY is never based on our circumstances. True JOY is eternally secure inside of the ‘JOY’ of our salvation, Jesus Christ!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor John and Pastor Melony
